About this Map
Moody's Economy.com closely tracks economic conditions of U.S. states and metro areas, and summarizes the results on this interactive map. Areas are labeled according to where their local economies are in the business cycle, based on indicators of employment, residential construction, house prices and manufacturing production. Those states and metros where the indicators are dropping are labeled In Recession. Those where declines have slowed are said to be Moderating. Areas where the indicators have begun rising again are Recovering. Places that have advanced past their previous growth peaks are labeled Expanding.
