ICSC, Redbook Sales Week Ending September 12

Consumer spending is showing little momentum. According to the ICSC, chain store sales were flat for the week ending September 15, following a 0.6% gain in the prior week. The ICSC reported that mild weather lifted customer traffic for all segments except dollar stores where it changed little and furniture stores where it fell. Meanwhile, Redbook's month-over-month sales figures improved further, increasing 0.5% compared with 0.2% previously. This puts sales growth well ahead of the targeted 0.3% drop based on retailers' plans....
