ICSC, Redbook Sales Week Ending September 19

The latest plunge in sales was seasonally typical as sales show little sign of upward momentum. According to the ICSC, chain store sales dropped 2% for the week ending September 19 after the prior week's unchanged performance. Consumer traffic reportedly slowed from the prior week, possibly hurt by warm weather. Meanwhile, Redbook's month-over-month sales figures deteriorated slightly, increasing 0.3%, compared with 0.5% previously. This still keeps sales growth well ahead of the targeted 0.3% drop based on retailers' plans....
