Auto Leasing Is Coming Back

Leasing is again becoming an option for consumers in the new vehicle market, but it is not expected to become as available or as attractive an option as it was earlier this decade.

Chrysler recently announced that it will resume leasing; this follows General Motors' return to leasing, which it announced earlier in the summer. These moves by Chrysler and GM highlight both the attractiveness and perils of leasing. Their return will lift the share of leasing from its historic lows....
