ICSC, Redbook Sales Week Ending September 26

Sales show little momentum in either direction. According to the ICSC, chain store sales inched up 0.1% for the week ending September 26 after having plunged 2% in the prior week. Consumer traffic reportedly improved from the prior week, particularly at discounters and department stores, despite warmer than normal weather, which tends to keep consumers out of stores at this time of year. Meanwhile, Redbook's month-over-month sales figures mimicked the upward movement, increasing 0.4%, compared with 0.3% previously. This keeps sales growth well ahead of the targeted 0.3% drop based on retailers' plans....
