Mixed Signs From Consumer Credit Quality

The latest data from the American Bankers Association showed mixed signs from consumer credit quality in the second quarter of 2009. The weakening trend of credit quality in bank cards and auto loans slowed, whereas credit quality in home equity loans and personal loans continued to deteriorate at a rapid pace. The data cover consumer loans originated by more than 300 banks nationwide; household liabilities held through finance companies are not included. Loans are considered delinquent if they are 30 days or more past due....
