ICSC, Redbook Sales Week Ending October 3

Chain store sales continue to struggle, exhibiting little momentum. According to the ICSC, chain store sales increased 0.3% for the week ending October 3, compared with 0.1% in the prior week. Despite two straight gains, the ICSC index has yet to recoup the 2% decline three weeks back. The ICSC reported that customer traffic improved at both discounters and department stores, helped by a spurt of cooler weather. Meanwhile, Redbook's month-over-month sales figures remained up 0.4%. This keeps sales growth well ahead of the targeted 0.3% drop based on retailers' plans....
