ICSC, Redbook Sales Week Ending October 10

Consumer spending has little momentum. A positive note though is recent weekly performance in the ICSC. According to the ICSC, chain store sales increased 0.6% for the week ending October 10, the index's third consecutive gain. A colder than normal start to October reportedly supported purchases of cold weather merchandise in the latest week. Meanwhile, Redbook mirrored the firmer trend, starting out October with month-over-month sales up 1.9%. This puts sales ahead of the 1.5% target based on retailers' plans....
