In February, INDEC suspended production of the national CPI and used two measures computed by regional statistical offices as substitutes (see related article). The national program has now been revived, but without history.
In response, we have archived the previous series by marking them as "discontinued." The replacements are month-over-month percent changes (% M/M) not seasonally adjusted (NSA) and start at May 2016.
The series reside in the historical catalog (Argentina » Price » Consumer Price Index » From 2016) and the predecessors under the associated "discontinued" node. They include, for example:
- CPITTUM.IARG = [DISCONTINUED] Consumer price index, (Index Oct13-Sep14=100, NSA)
- CP%TTMUM.IARG = General index, (% M/M, NSA)
- CP%FBNMUM.IARG = Food and beverages
- CP%CLFMUM.IARG = Clothing
For analytical convenience, we compute seasonally adjusted versions of the general index and housing component. These start at January 1943.
- CPITTAM.IARG = [DISCONTINUED] General index, (Index Oct13-Sep14=100, SA)
- RCPITTM.IARG = General index, (Index 2015=100, SA)
- CPIHOSAM.IARG = [DISCONTINUED] Housing, (Index Oct13-Sep14=100, SA)
- RCPIHOSM.IARG = Housing and basic services (Index 2015=100, SA)
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Please be aware that:
- The replacement consumer price measure is not an index, and cannot be converted to one until more history is published.
- The Moody's Analytics supplements (above) are indexed and have extended history, but synthesize several different inputs to achieve this.
