As of July 2011, Moody's Analytics Data Buffet offers new estimates of national and subnational economic data for Canada.  Economic sectors include consumer, demographics, income, labor and wages, national accounts, prices, and real estate.  All estimated series have a quarterly frequency.  Start dates vary, but are as early as 1946.  Geographically, we estimate for the nation, provinces and territories, and CMAs; exact coverage at each level varies.

The subnational estimates dataset for Canada is part of the Moody's Analytics Global Database product.  Please contact your sales representative for details.

Table 1. Indicator and geographic coverage.  Concept wild cards indicate that we provide a breakdown, otherwise we estimate only the headline indicator.  Certain indicators are available for only selected areas within a geographic level (denoted by an asterisk "*"), but most have full coverage of all areas ("###").  To jump into the Data Buffet catalog, append the geo code ".ICAN" to a concept code, and search using "find in catalog" mode.

Geographic structures for Canada: Official and Moody's Analytics.  We republish historical data or produce estimates for all major areas at the following geographic levels.  Each level has a distinctive geo code; e.g., provinces (and only provinces) have codes that consist of the prefix "ICAN_" followed by two letters.  To retrieve all available areas for an indicator, combine the concept code with the geo code wild card, e.g. RCPIUQ.ICAN_^^.

Table 3. Moody's Analytics Metropolitan Areas.  Statistics Canada defines 33 census metropolitan areas (CMAs) which are analogous to U.S. metropolitan statistical areas.  Their geo codes are shown in green below.  For the purposes of Moody's Analytics global cities estimates, we have used these as-is, but have assigned a distinct set of parallel geo codes (in red).
