In 2010, Italy executed a revision of its Eurostat NUTS regional classification. We have created new geography codes so that we can accurately record data before and after the redefinition. There were six changes, including:
- Milan split into Milan and Monza e della Brianza.
- The territory covered by Foggia and Bari (two areas) was reallocated into Barletta-Andria-Trani etc. (three areas), i.e., IITA_FOG+IITA_BAR = IITA_BAT+IITA_FOI+IITA_BAI.
- The border between Pesaro e Urbino and Rimini shifted at the NUTS 3 level, cascading to the NUTS 2 and NUTS 1 levels.
