Two geographic areas available in the Fiserv Case-Shiller® Indexes (CSI) are based on non-standard definitions (i.e., aggregates of counties not defined by the Office of Management and Budget), and consequently are designated in DataBuffet with specialized geo codes.

The two areas consist of the following New York counties.  You will need these lists to aggregate counties if you wish to compare the CSI values to other indicators over the corresponding region.  (Note: Geo codes for counties consist of the two-letter state abbreviation, followed by the three-digit number assigned in FIPS 6-4.  County geo codes are available in the Geography Dictionary section of the downloadable desktop catalog, available from the Tools menu of DataBuffet.com.)

When comparing the four CSI and OMB areas (summarized in the table below), keep in mind:

• Special area NYC_CSW is a subset of DMNEY_CSW. 
• DMNEY_CSW and the standard area DMNEY each consist of 11 counties, but have only 8 in common.  (Non-shared counties are marked in blue and purple in the table below.)
• DMNEY is a subset of the standard area MNEY, which contains 24 counties.
• DMNEY and MNEY include counties in New Jersey, and MNEY includes one county in Pennsylvania.
• DMNEY_CSW includes one area (Orange County) not found in MNEY.
