Motivation: Our national source for Turkey reports building permits in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms from January 2002. In particular, the number of permits for dwellings is divided into nine groups by function of the building.
Response: For international consistency, we have created seasonally adjusted counterparts for "number of permits for single-unit dwelling," "permits for two-or-more-unit dwellings" (i.e., multi-family), and their sum (all dwellings).
Properties: The three time series begin in January 2002. Values are in number of permits (#) at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR). Expect the SA supplements to be revised with each new historical value appended to the NSA fundamentals.
Method:
- Separately adjust single-family and multi-family permits using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-12 ARIMA program (HSQDPMTTT1DRAM.ITUR and HSQDPMTTT2MRAM.ITUR).
- Sum single family and multi-family for "all dwellings" (HSQDPMTTTRAM.ITUR).
