For purposes of the Moody’s Analytics estimated and forecast data products, we have established geography codes for metropolitan areas in Hungary. We have chosen to conform to the definition maintained by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), which defines three areas:
- Budapest
- Gyor
- Székesfehérvár
The main publication of HCSO's Spatial Numerical Code System uses the term "city agglomeration" which is the closest possible definition to metropolitan area for the country. It aggregates regions (NUTS 3) and municipalities (LAU 2).
References
We define each of our metropolitan areas as aggregates of regions (NUTS 3) and municipalities (LAU 2). Hungary has a national geo code of IHUN, all codes for its geographic subdivisions use IHUN as a prefix, and all Moody’s Analytics metro area codes feature the letter “M”. Each of the three areas is identified as IHUN(underscore)M(three letters), and may be retrieved in bulk with the basket geo wild card IHUN_M^^^.
The full list of three metro areas and 123 constituent areas, with Data Buffet geo codes, is attached.
