As of July 2011, Moody's Analytics Data Buffet offers an expanded subnational Portugal database, sourced from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) for Portugal. Economic sectors include demographics, labor force, compensation, gross domestic product and real estate. Coverage varies, but certain data available as often as monthly, with geographic granularity to the sub-regional level.

Table 1 summarizes the new coverage, and table 2 explains the abbreviations for each geographic level. The subnational dataset for Portugal is part of the Moody's Analytics Global Database product.  Please contact your sales representative for details.

Table 1. Summary of economic indicators.  Series frequencies are annual, quarterly or monthly (A, Q, M).  Geographic levels are described in Table 2.

Table 2. Geographic levels in our subnational data.  For example, Portugal is divided into three NUTS 1-type areas, known as "divisions," which we identify with geo codes having the stereotypical form of IPRT_ followed by four letters.

The geography code patterns will help you create wild card basket retrievals; for example, to fetch total population for all five NUTS 2 areas, use VSQPOPA.IPRT_^^.  (The table shows "a" to indicate that all such codes use letters, not digits; but the wild card character is "^", the caret.)
