Moody's Economy.com Survey of Business ConfidenceThis Week's Survey
Global business confidence is edging slowly higher. The four-week moving average of sentiment rose to its highest level last week since just before the start of the global recession in late 2007. Sentiment is about the same across the globe, with South Americans a bit more upbeat and North Americans a bit less so. Despite the gain in confidence, businesses remain very cautious, with their mood consistent with only a tentative global economic recovery. Businesses are most upbeat when responding to broader questions about current conditions and the outlook into this summer. They remain cautious when responding to specific questions about sales, pricing, inventories and hiring.
