Argentina: Retail Sales Index

The index that tracks nominal sales at Buenos Airesí largest shopping centers increased 37.1% y/y in January, after rising 30.5% in December. The statistics office introduced methodological changes in the retail sales index amid the release of a new consumer price index. The new consumer price index is expected to show higher inflation compared with the previous one. Accordingly, retail sales in real terms (after adjusting for inflation) will likely show softer growth with the new methodology. The statistics office did not provide year-ago levels for the new inflation-adjusted series.
