Retail sales increased 0.5% in February to C$41 billion. Excluding motor vehicle and parts dealers, retail sales rose 0.6%. Higher sales at food and beverage stores led sales higher. Retail sales have increased in six of the past eight months. In volume terms, sales rose just 0.1%. Seven of the 11 subsectors posted gains, representing 56% of retail sales. Sales were higher in seven provinces.
