Data Change: Argentina - CPI - Rebased
Friday, 05 Dec 2014 07:50 ET
By Jay Lynch
Summary
November 2014 -- The source has changed the base period for the detailed consumer price index from a three-month interval to a 12-month interval (11 monthly series 2013-2014, replaced from 2014).
Detail

In response, we have archived the predecessor series (2013Q4=100, December 2013 to September 2014) by renaming with a "_13" specifier and marking them as "discontinued."  The one-for-one replacements (Oct2013-Sep2014=100) start at September 2014.

The "IPCNu" dataset covers urban areas throughout the nation.  It is organized by COICOP.  Figures are not seasonally adjusted (NSA).

All series reside in the historical catalog (Argentina » Price » Consumer Price Index) and includes, for example:

  • CPITTUM.IARG = General index
  • CPIFBNUM.IARG = Food and beverages
  • CPIHOU_13UM.IARG = [DISCONTINUED] Housing

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

Please be aware that:

  • Moody's Analytics has extended the history for the reported NSA general index back to October 1943.
  • For analytical convenience, we produce a seasonally adjusted counterpart to the general index, and have updated it to match this latest change.
