For consistency between the national and subnational "sample population by age" datasets, we have renamed the former, according to this rule (old » new):
We applied the rule to:
- 21 national series (geo code ICHN)
- 31 provinces (geo code pattern ICHN_^^)
The series reside in the historical catalog (China » Demographics » Population » Annual by age) and include, for example, the following. A full list of concept codes is attached.
- VSQPOPSTUA.ICHN = Vital statistics: Sample population - All ages, (#)
- VSQPOPS0004UA.ICHN = Ages 0 to 4, (#)
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Please be aware that
The "sample survey population" dataset starts at 1995, is reported by five-year age bracket and broad age brackets, and has unitary scale (#). There is a separate population dataset from 1982, by broad age bracket, at 10 thousand scale (10 Ths. #).
