In a direct communication, the source explained:
The reason behind is that the availability of the underlying data now allows us to compute all EERs 19 partner countries (EER-19). The potential analytical value added of the EER-18 compared to the EER-19 has not been considered sufficient to justify the production of both groups in parallel (considering the already existing groups of 12 and 38 trading partners).
In response, we have:
- Marked the EER-18 series (4 January 1993 to 2 January 2020) as discontinued in its metadata and catalog entry.
As a substitute, the EER-19 series remains active, and has the same start date.
The series reside in the historical catalog:
- Cross-country datasets » European Central Bank (ECB) » Exchange rates » Daily » Effective Exchange Rates
and are:
- ECBEXINEER18UD.IEUZN = [DISCONTINUED] 18 group of trading partners [EER-18] - All countries in euro zone excl. Croatia, (Index 1999Q1=100, NSA)
- ECBEXINEER19UD.IEUZN = 19 group of trading partners [EER-19] - All countries in euro zone
