Data Change: Chile subnational - Real GDP(O) - Re-referenced to 2013
Wednesday, 07 Jun 2017 08:11 ET
By Megan Hilaman
Summary
April 2017 -- For Chile, the source has advanced the currency reference year for the production approach to GDP (gross value added by industry and region) from 2008 to 2013 (208 series 2008-2014, replaced by 208 from 2013). We have also added the remaining reported national series (four new annual series from 2013).
Detail

In response, we have archived the predecessors (reference year 2008, 2008 to 2014) by renaming with an "_08" specifier, by marking the metadata as "discontinued," and by segregating in the catalog. The one-for-one replacements (reference year 2013) start at 2013. The industry classification is CIIU Rev. 3, the Chilean localization of UN ISIC Rev. 3. Active figures are billions of chained year-2013 Chilean pesos (Bil. Ch. 2013 CLP). Geo coverage is the nation and all 15 regions.

The series reside in the historical catalog (Chile » National Accounts » by Value Add » Annual » Constant prices) and the predecessors are under the associated "discontinued" node. They include, for example, the following:

  • NACSGDP_08UA.ICHL_AN = [DISCONTINUED] Gross domestic product, (Mil. Ch. 2008 CLP) - for Antofagasta
  • NACSGDPUA.ICHL_AN    = Gross domestic product, (Bil. Ch. 2013 CLP) - for Antofagasta
  • NACSGVAAGUA.ICHL_CO  = [DISCONTINUED] Gross value added - Agriculture and forestry, (Mil. Ch. 2008 CLP) - for Coquimbo
  • NACSGVAAGUA.ICHL_CO  = Gross value added - Agriculture and forestry, (Bil. Ch. 2013 CLP) - for Coquimbo
  • NACSGDPUA.ICHL       = Gross domestic product, (Bil. Ch. 2013 CLP)
  • NACSTAXUA.ICHL       = VAT and import duties, (Bil. Ch. 2013 CLP)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

Please be aware that:

  • The reported scaler has changed from millions to billions. Hence, magnitudes are smaller by a factor of 1,000.
  • Moody's Analytics calculates GVA for the nation by aggregating the regional data.
