Motivation: Our national source, Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), reports quarterly GDP at current prices, but only in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms. (Conversely, at constant prices a full set of seasonally adjusted components of the output approach to GDP is published.)
Response: For analytical consistency, we have created a seasonally adjusted counterpart.
Properties: Aside from seasonality, properties are otherwise identical, i.e., figures are millions of Ghanaian cedi at current prices (Mil. GHC) and the series starts at 2008Q1. Expect our SA series to be revised with each update. Supplemental series of this kind are marked in their source metadata with a secondary citation of "Moody's Analytics Adjusted".
The series resides in the historical catalog (Ghana » National Accounts » by Value add » Quarterly) and is:
- NALSGDPAQ.IGHA = National accounts: Production approach - GDP [at purchaser's value], (Mil. GHC, SA)
Method: Adjust the series using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-13 ARIMA program.
