Data Change: Philippines subnational - Population projections - Benchmark 2015
Thursday, 07 Nov 2019 16:05 ET
By Jacky Cheung
Summary
November 2019 -- For population projections for the Philippines (by sex, five-year age bracket, and 17 regions), the source has issued projections based on the 2015 Census of Population (972 annual series 2010 to 2045, replaced by 972 series 2015 to 2025).
Detail

On 4 October, the source wrote (citation (2019-162)):

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) releases the updated 2010 Census-based Population Projections using the results of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). This in response to the demands for the latest population estimates at national and sub-national levels to be used as inputs in development plans, policies and programs, market research and analysis, among others.

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (POPCEN 2010) by renaming with an "_10" specifier, marking metadata as "discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created one-for-one replacements (POPCEN 2015).
  3. Transplanted the global concept alias POP.IPHL.

Notable change to properties:

  • Benchmark: From POPCEN2010 to POPCEN2015
  • Projection horizon: From 2045 to 2025

The series reside in the historical catalog:

  • Philippines » Demographics » Population projection » POPCEN 2015 » By sex and age
  • Philippines » Demographics » Population projection » POPCEN 2010 [DISCONTINUED] » By sex and age
