According to the associated methodologies, the geographic scope of this indicator has changed from "in the municipal zone" to "nationwide" for each of the reported areas. That is, from:
Construction area permitted in municipal zone (in thousands of square meter): this reflects the area permission to construct buildings in town municipality [thesaban mueang], city municipality [thesaban nakhon], city of Pataya and Bangkok metropolitan zone.
To:
Construction area permitted in municipal zone and non-municipal zone [rural areas] in the whole kingdom [...]
In response, we have:
- Archived the predecessors (table EC_EI_009, January 1998 to February 2018) by renaming with "_18" specifier, marking metadata as discontinued, and segregating in the catalog.
- Created one-for-one replacements (table EC_EI_009_S2), which start at January 2008.
Figures are square meters (m²) not seasonally adjusted (NSA). The series start at January 2008. For this indicator, geo coverage is the country, five regions, and Bangkok.
The series reside in the historical catalog (Thailand » Real Estate » Property Indicators) and are:
- HSASMSTT_18UM.ITHA = [DISCONTINUED] Property Indicators: Construction areas permitted in municipal zone, (m², NSA) - for country
- HSASMSTTUM.ITHA = Nationwide - for country
- HSASMSTT_18UM.ITHA_BK = [DISCONTINUED] In municipal zone - for Bangkok
- HSASMSTTUM.ITHA_BK = Nationwide - for Bangkok
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
About the dataset
For the Kingdom of Thailand, the first-level administrative geographies are 76 provinces (changwat) and two cities, Bangkok and Pattaya. Other urban areas are classed as municipalities (thesaban) with three ranks: city (thesaban nakhon), town (thesaban mueang), and sub-district (thesaban tambon). Municipal/non-municipal simply means urban/rural. The Bangkok metropolitan region consists of the Bangkok metropolis and five adjacent provinces.
