Data Revision: Sweden - Real GDP(E) and GDP(O) - Re-referenced to 2016
Tuesday, 30 May 2017 17:16 ET
By Jay Lynch
Summary
May 2017 -- For chained-price series in the national accounts expenditure and production approaches, the source has advanced the currency reference year from 2015 to 2016 (251 series, revised from 1981).
Detail

In response, we have revised values in the existing series; the full history is impacted. Figures are millions of chained year-2016 Swedish kroner (Mil. Ch. 2016 SEK).

Properties are otherwise unchanged. The activity classification is SNI 2007, the localization of NACE Rev. 2. Presentations are unadjusted (NSA), seasonally adjusted (SA), or working day adjusted and seasonally adjusted (WDASA). The series reside in the historical catalog (Sweden » National Accounts » by Expenditure | by Value Add » Quarterly » Constant prices) and include, for example:

  • NACEGDPUQ.ISWE  = Expenditure approach - Gross domestic product at market prices, (Mil. Ch. 2016 SEK, NSA)
  • NACEFCHHAQ.ISWE = Expenditure approach - Household final consumption expenditure; excl. NPISH, (Mil. Ch. 2016 SEK, SA)
  • NACSTAXCQ.ISWE  = Production  approach - Taxes on products, (Mil. Ch. 2016 SEK, WDASA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

Please be aware that:

  • This is a routine annual process for this dataset. Expect the currency reference year to be advanced each year at about this time. To monitor the unit-descriptor, include the "description" header in your basket output.
  • The expenditure approach to GDP is sometimes known as GDP(E).
  • The production approach to GDP is also known as GDP(O), because it's based on output, and as GVA, because it describes gross value added by activity.
