Motivation: Our national source, the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, reports employment share by industry for nine select areas, but only in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms.
Response: For analytical consistency we have created seasonally adjusted counterparts to the reported areas.
Properties
- Classification: A*3 aggregates over VSIC 2007, based on UN ISIC Rev. 4 and ACIC
- Measurement: Percent of total employment (%)
- Adjustment: Seasonally adjusted (SA)
- Geo coverage:
- 1 country
- 2 group-of-macroregions
- 4 provinces
- 2 metro areas
- Do all concept-geo pairs exist: Yes
- Native frequency: Quarterly
- Start date: 2009Q3, 2012Q4, or 2015Q1
Supplemental series of this kind are marked with a secondary citation of "Moody's Analytics Adjusted". Expect our SA series to be revised with each update.
The series reside in the historical catalog (Vietnam » Labor and wages » Report on Labor Force Survey » Active » Seasonally adjusted by Moody's Analytics) and include, for example:
- LW%EMPRITAQ.IVNM = Labor force survey: Percentage distribution of employment - Agriculture; forestry; fishery - Both sexes, (%, SA)
- LW%EMSECTAQ.IVNM_CH = Industry and construction - for Central Highlands [province]
- LW%EMTERTAQ.IVNM_NMMA = Services - for Northern Midlands and Mountain Areas [group of macroregions]
Method
- For "agriculture" and "industry" adjust reported shares individually, using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-13 ARIMA program.
- Compute "services" share as an identity, i.e., (100% - agriculture - industry).
