Data Change: Poland subnational - Migration - NUTS 2013
Monday, 19 Jun 2017 12:21 ET
By Ian Vaughan
Summary
May 2017 -- For subnational migration (arrivals and departures) for Poland, the source has switched from NUTS 2010 to 2013, impacting the NUTS 3 level (72 annual series 1995-2014, replaced by 38 from 2000). Additionally, we have standardized the mnemonics of all active series.
Detail

1. In response, we have archived the predecessors (NUTS 2010, 1995 to 2006 or 2014) by marking the description metadata as "discontinued." The replacements (NUTS 2013, see related article) start at 2000. Figures are unitary counts (#).

2. For consistency, we have standardized the concept codes of all active series, whether or not the geos were impacted.

3. The source has communicated to us that values for 2015 will not be reported.

To summarize:

  • Before:
    • Geo standard: NUTS 2010
    • Geo coverage: 36 of 66 NUTS 3 areas
    • Concept code pattern: VSQMIG(A,D)UA
    • Series count: 72
    • Date range: 1995 to 2006, or 1995 to 2014
  • After:
    • Geo standard: NUTS 2013
    • Geo coverage: 95 areas = nation, all NUTS 1, 2 and 3 areas (six, 16, 72)
    • Concept code pattern: VSQMIGT(A,D)UA
    • Series count: 190
    • Date range: 2000 to 2014, with gap at 2015

The series reside in the historical catalog (Poland » Demographics » Components of change), and include, for example:

  • VSQMIGTAUA.IPOL_OP  = Migration - Domestic and foreign - Registrations for permanent residence, (#) - for NUTS 2 Opolskie
  • VSQMIGAUA.IPOL_SZE  = [DISCONTINUED] Migration - Registrations for Permanent Residence, (#) - for NUTS (2010) 3 Szczecinski
  • VSQMIGTDUA.IPOL_SZZ = Migration - Domestic and foreign - Registrations of departure, (#) - for NUTS (2013) 3 Szczecinski

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepets a mnemonic.
