By Kelli Johnson
Summary
October 2019 -- To supplement the reported income accounts for Argentina, Moody's Analytics now computes a seasonally adjusted counterpart for compensation (one new quarterly series, from 2016).
Detail

Motivation: Our national source, the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of the Argentine Republic (INDEC), reports compensation at a quarterly frequency and annualized rate, but only in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms.

Response: For analytic convenience, we have created a counterpart that is seasonally adjusted at an annualized rate (SAAR).

Properties: Expect our SA series to be revised with each update to the NSA series. Supplemental series of this kind are identified by a secondary source citation of "Moody's Analytics Adjusted".

  • Measurement: Millions of Argentinian pesos (Mil. ARS)
  • Adjustment: Seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR)
  • Coverage: Country
  • Native frequency: Quarterly
  • Start date: 2016Q1

The series resides in the historical catalog (Argentina » National Accounts » by Income » Compensation) and is:

  • NALICMPTAQ.IARG = Generation of Income Accounts: Compensation for salaried work - All sectors, (Mil. ARS, SAAR)
Method: Individually adjust the reported NSA series using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-13 ARIMA program.
