Data Change: Singapore - CPI - Rebased to 2019
Thursday, 27 Feb 2020 18:17 ET
By Annie Kao
Summary
February 2020 -- For the detailed consumer price index of Singapore, concurrent with dissemination of results for January 2020, the source has advanced the base year from 2014 to 2019 (75 monthly series 1961 to 2019, replaced from 1961).
Detail

On 24 February, the source wrote (citation (pdf)):

The monthly CPI data for 2019 have been revised following the rebasing of the CPI from base year of 2014 to base year of 2019. The rebasing exercise included changes to the weights as well as the sample of items and outlets selected for the compilation of the CPI.

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (2014=100, as early as 1961m1 to 2019m12) by renaming with an "_14" specifier, marking metadata as "discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created one-for-one replacements (2019=100).
  3. Transplanted the global concept alias.

Notable properties (for full list, see background):

  • Base period: From 2014 to 2019
  • Start date: Unchanged

The series reside in the historical catalog:
