Motivation: The ANFAVEA trade group reports licenses (registrations) of new motor vehicles in Brazil, monthly from 1957, but only in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms.
Response: For analytical purposes, Moody's Analytics has created a seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR) counterpart.
Properties: Properties are generally identical to the NSA fundamental: Figures are unitary count (#), and the series starts at January 1957. Expect our SAAR series to be revised upon each update to the NSA series. Supplemental series of this kind are marked in their source metadata with a secondary citation of "Moody's Analytics Adjusted".
The series resides in the historical catalog (Brazil » Consumer » Motor vehicle sales » Licenses of new vehicles) and is:
- CSQRGNMVAM.IBRA = Licenses of new vehicles - All motor vehicle types, (#, SAAR)
Method: Adjust the NSA series using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-13 ARIMA program.
