In response, we have archived the predecessors (Index 2011=100, January 1959 to December 2017) by renaming with an "_11" specifier, by marking the metadata as "discontinued", and by segregating in the catalog. The replacements (Index 2016=100) start as early as January 1959. Series are not seasonally adjusted (NSA); the general index is also reported in seasonally adjusted (SA) form.
Series reside in the historical catalog (Taiwan » Price » Consumer Price Index » National 2016=100) and the associated discontinued node. They include, for example:
- CPITT_11UM.ITWN = [DISCONTINUED] Consumer price index: General index, (Index 2011=100, NSA)
- CPITTUM.ITWN = General index, (Index 2016=100, NSA)
- CPIFPB_11UM.ITWN = [DISCONTINUED] Food [and beverages], (Index 2011=100, NSA)
- CPIFBAUM.ITWN = Food [and beverages], (Index 2016=100, NSA)
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Please be aware that
- The CPI branches and weights derive from the Family Income/Expenditure Survey
- The branches match COICOP only at the first level, and we have standardized mnemonics at that level; cross-country retrievals will work. Below that level the branches are idiosyncratic, as are our mnemonics.
- The composition of the first-level branches is not necessarily reflected in the official English-language titles.
- The CPI is rebased every five years.
- A separate CPI dataset is produced for Taipei City (the capital).
