Data Change: Germany - PPI - Rebased to 2015
Monday, 09 Sep 2019 11:44 ET
By Ian Vaughan
October 2018 -- For the producer price index of Germany, concurrent with dissemination of results for August, the source has advanced the base period of select series from 2010 to 2015 (three monthly series 1976 to 2018, replaced by three from 2000).

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (2010=100, January 1976 to June 2018) by renaming with an "_10" specifier, by marking the metadata as "discontinued", and by segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created one-for-one replacements (2015=100, from January 2000).
  3. Extended the CDASA series backwards to 1991.
  4. Assigned standardized mnemonics
  5. Refurbished the catalog.

Active dataset properties:

  • Measurement: Fixed-based index relative to 2015 (Index 2015=100)
  • Adjustment: Calendar day adjusted and seasonally adjusted (CDASA) or not seasonally adjusted (NSA) ("raw")
  • Native frequency: Monthly
  • Start date: January 2000
  • Lag: 2 months
  • Subject to revisions: Yes

The series reside in the historical catalog (Germany » Price » Producer price index) and include, for example:

  • PPIDTTCM.IDEU     = [DISCONTINUED] Producer price index: Domestic sales - Industrial products - Total, (Index 2010=100, CDASA)
  • PPIDMTXENGCM.IDEU = All industrial products excl. energy sources, (Index 2015=100, CDASA)
  • PPIDMTTUM.IDEU    = All industrial products, (Index 2015=100, NSA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
