Data Change: Germany - Motor vehicle trade - Rebased to 2015
Tuesday, 10 Jul 2018 03:22 ET
By Victoria Donu
Summary
July 2018 -- For the turnover indexes for motor vehicle trade for Germany, the base period has been advanced by the source from 2010 to 2015 (two monthly series 1994 to 2018, replaced from 1994).
Detail

The source wrote:

Turnover from motor vehicle trade in April 2018 increased by 9.9% price adjusted on April 2017
...
Every five years, the figures for retail turnover are subject to a regular adaption. The results now refer to the new base year of 2015.

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (2010=100, January 1994 to January 2018) by renaming with an "_10" specifier, by marking metadata as "discontinued", and by segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created one-for-one replacements (2015=100).

Dataset properties:

  • The classification is WZ08 (the national adaptation of NACE Rev. 2); scope is division 45.
  • Figures are fixed-base value indexes (Index) or volume indexes (Vol. Index).
  • The start date is January 1994 (unchanged).

The series reside in the historical catalog (Germany » Consumer » Retail sales index) and are:

  • WRJ45_10UM.IDEU = [DISCONTINUED] Wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, (Vol. Index 2010=100, NSA)
  • WRI45_10UM.IDEU = [DISCONTINUED] (Index 2010=100, NSA)
  • WRJ45UM.IDEU    = (Vol. Index 2015=100, NSA)
  • WRI45UM.IDEU    = (Index 2015=100, NSA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
