Data Change: Germany - Financial accounts under ESA 2010
Thursday, 23 Mar 2017 16:08 ET
By Jay Lynch
Summary
July 2016 -- As part of a Europe-wide process, the source has migrated its national accounts framework from ESA 95 to ESA 2010, impacting the financial accounts (532 quarterly series 1991-2014, replaced by 2,068 from 1999).
Detail

In response, we have archived the predecessor series (ESA 95, 1991Q1 to 2014Q1) by marking as "discontinued." The replacements (ESA 2010) start at 1999Q1. Level figures are millions of euros (Mil. EUR) and flow figures are millions of euros quarter-over-quarter change (Mil. EUR Q/Q). The series are not seasonally adjusted (NSA).

The series reside in the historical catalog (Germany » Financial » Financial Accounts) and include, for example:

  • AFLFSACPTOTTTUQ.IDEU = Assets - by Non-financial corporations [S11] - All financial assets [AF0] - vs All sectors [S0]
  • AFLFSLFBTOTTTUQ.IDEU = Liabilities - by Domestic financial sectors [S12] - All financial assets [AF0] - vs All sectors [S0]
  • AFLFFLCPTCATTUQ.IDEU = External financing - by Non-financial corporations [S11] - Trade credits and advances [AF81] - vs All sectors [S0]

The predecessors reside under the adjacent "discontinued" node and have mnemonics based our the source's identifier, for example:

  • DBBCEB00IQ.IDEU = [DISCONTINUED] Financial Accounts For Germany: Households - Stocks - Financial Assets - Financial Assets D - Total C - Private Households

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

Please be aware that:

  • To avoid ambiguity, the ESA sector and instrument codes (see lists below) are notated in each "description" metadata field.
  • The source's database identifier is notated in each "source" metadata field.
  • Stock measures are assets and liabilities; flow measures are "acquisition of financial assets" and "external financing."
  • The source's data portal represents two-party relationships as a single series (which exist at two points in a tree), but Data Buffet represents them as a pair of complementary series (credit-debtor-asset and debtor-credit-liability). For example:
