Data Change: Slovenia subnational - HPI - Rebased to 2015
Tuesday, 11 Jul 2017 16:00 ET
By Daniel Luckenbach
Summary
June 2017 -- For the detailed house price indexes for Slovenia, the source has advanced the base year from 2010 to 2015 (nine quarterly series 2000-2016, replaced from 2007). We have also synchronized our SA supplements.
Detail

In response, we have archived the predecessors (2010=100, 2000Q1 to 2016Q4) by marking their description metadata as "discontinued" and by segregating in the catalog. The replacements start at 2007Q1, but we have extended them. Reported figures are not seasonally adjusted (NSA). Geo coverage is (for seven concepts) the whole country and (for existing flats) the capital area and the balance of the country.

The series reside in the historical catalog (Slovenia » Price » Real Estate » Price » House price index) and include, for example:

  • HPIDTYAUQ.ISVN       = [DISCONTINUED] House price index: Total dwellings, (2010=100, NSA)
  • HPITTOTUQ.ISVN       = Total dwellings, (2015=100, NSA)
  • HPIEFLTYAAQ.ISVN_061 = [DISCONTINUED] Existing flats, (2010=100, SA) - for Ljubljana Municipality
  • HPIXHOUUQ.ISVN       = Existing family houses, (2015=100, NSA)
  • HPIXAPTAQ.ISVN_X061  = Existing flats, (2015=100, SA) - for Rest of Slovenia

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

About the dataset:

  • In addition to the fixed-base index form, the dataset also has three moving-base index forms.
  • Slovenia's capital, Ljubljana, is counted as a municipality (geo code pattern ISVN_nnn), outside the NUTS classification

About our extract:

  • Because the predecessors have nonstandard mnemonics, we have not renamed them with archive specifiers that indicate the base year.
  • Although the replacements are reported from 2007Q1, we have extended them to 2003Q1 (2000Q1 for existing flats) by using the growth patterns of their predecessors.
  • For analytic convenience, we produce seasonally adjusted (SA) versions of three of the seven indicators.
