Motivation: The source's national accounts-definition employment (full-time equivalent) reporting covers all NUTS 2 and 3 subnational areas; but only at an annual frequency, and with limited industrial detail (11 industries).
Please note that for Ireland, NUTS 1 is the national level.
Response: For international consistency, Moody's Analytics estimates employment for the areas above; but quarterly, for all 21 NACE Rev.2 sections; also industrial aggregates, and seasonally adjusted.
Properties:
- Measurement: Thousands of persons (Ths. #), seasonally adjusted (SA)
- Frequency: Quarterly
- Start date: 1998Q1
- Industry coverage: All 21 NACE Rev.2 sections (A-U)
- Industry aggregates: A3, all industries incl. agriculture, office-using [J-N]
- Geo coverage: All NUTS 2 and 3 areas
- Additivity: Parent industries and areas equal the sums of their components
The estimates reside in the catalog (Ireland » National Accounts » Branch Accounts » Employment by industry) and include, for example:
- REICQ.IIRL_BM = Information and communication [J] - for NUTS 2 Border, Midlands and Western
- REWRQ.IIRL_SOW = Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles [G] - for NUTS 3 South-West (IE)
- RESECQ.IIRL_SE = Secondary industries [C-G] - for NUTS 2 Southern and Eastern
Method: Please see the background documentation in Mnemonic 411.
