New Data: Thailand - Employment by industry - SA
Tuesday, 26 Mar 2019 10:08 ET
By Daniel Luckenbach
March 2019 -- For employment by industry reported in the labor force survey of Thailand, Moody's Analytics now computes seasonally adjusted counterparts (26 new series from 2001).

Motivation: Our national source, the Bank of Thailand, reports employment by industry in their monthly labor force survey, but only in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms.

Response: For analytical consistency we have created seasonally adjusted counterparts.

  • Classification: UN ISIC Rev. 4
  • Measurement: Thousands of persons (Ths. #)
  • Adjustment: Seasonally adjusted (SA)
  • Native frequency: Monthly
  • Start date: 2001m1 (five aggregates) or 2011m1 (21 individual branches).

Supplemental series of this kind are marked with a secondary source citation of "Moody's Analytics Adjusted", except for two series that we aggregate, which are marked "Moody's Analytics Calculated". Expect our SA series to be revised with each update.

The series reside in the historical catalog (Thailand » Labor and Wages » Employment by industry » By ISIC Rev. 4 » Seasonally adjusted by Moody's Analytics) and include, for example:

  • LWQEMTAM.ITHA   = Labor force survey - Employed, (Ths., SA)
  • LWQEMAGAM.ITHA  = Agriculture
  • LWQEMCONAM.ITHA = Construction

  1. Adjust each reported component industries using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-13 ARIMA program.
  2. Compute the "all industries" and "services" aggregates as additive identities.
