By Skylar Bowman
Summary
November 2016 -- Data Buffet now carries the OECD Main Economic Indicators (10,341 new monthly, 30,608 new quarterly, and 30,137 new annual series from 1960).
Detail

Included are 3,309 cross-comparable concepts for 66 geographies, including 50 individual countries, eight OECD country-aggregates and eight other country-aggregates. Not all concept-geo combinations exist. Units vary. Series are presented in two forms, seasonally adjusted (SA) or not (NSA). The series start as early as 1960. Indicator families include:

  • Balance of payments
  • Imports, exports and net trade
  • Business tendency
  • Consumer opinion
  • Leading indicators
  • Labor force status by sex and age
  • Labor compensation
  • Hours worked
  • Monetary aggregates
  • Orders in construction and manufacturing
  • Production
  • Residential construction starts

The series reside in the historical catalog (Cross-Country Datasets » OECD datasets » Main Economic Indicators (MEI)) and include, for example:

  • OCMXTIMVA01NCMLUM.IARG = International trade: Imports - Value of goods - Total, (ARS, NSA) - for Argentina
  • OCMULQEUL01GYAQ.IDEU   = Unit labour costs: Early estimate of Quarterly ULC indicators - Unit labour costs - Total, (%, SA) - for Germany
  • OCMB6DBTD01CXCUAA.IFIN = Balance of payments BPM6: Current account debits - Goods - Total debits, (USD) - for Finland
  • OCMLRUN25TTSTUA.IOCTT  = Labour force survey: Quarterly rates - Unemployment rate - Aged 25-54 - All persons, (%) - for OECD country-aggregate

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

About the dataset:

Because this is a consolidated dataset with a wide breadth of indicators, you may find it helpful to peruse the official documentation before browsing the Data Buffet catalog.
