Please be aware that

There are three types of financial institution in New Zealand: Non-bank lending institutions, insurance companies, and registered banks; the bulk of assets are held by the latter.

Previously, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) used a quarterly regulatory form called the Standard Statistical Return (SSR), with the concepts of "funding" and "claims", where funding encompasses deposits, securities and "other borrowing". As of 2017 the SSR has been replaced by the monthly Bank Balance Sheet (BBS), which separates those categories, per international best practices.
