On 30 May, as part of the second estimate of GDP, for the first time results were reported using currency reference year ("base year") 2014 (citation).

In response, we have:

1. Archived the predecessors (base year 2010) by renaming with an "_10" specifier, marking metadata as discontinued, and segregating in the catalog.
2. Created one-for-one replacements (base year 2014).
3. Created replacements for our supplements (pending).
4. Assigned standardized mnemonics to both the predecessors and replacements (see attachment).
5. Refurbished metadata.

In the attachment, the base-2010 series (col C, purple) have been archive-renamed (col D, blue) and aliased (col E, green) to match the active base-2014 series (col F, red). The INSEE Idbank codes for base-2010 and -2014 are in cols A and B, respectively.

About the dataset

For inflation adjustment, INSEE uses a chaining method with a base year. The base year is advanced periodically, usually by five years. The subsets are labeled "chained to previous year's prices"; this is not a special method, but merely makes explicit the typical method, as described in Eurostat documents.

INSEE labels the items with ESA codes, but has augmented the codeset:

• P54 = P52+P53 = change in inventories plus acquisitions less disposals of valuables
• P51 = gross fixed capital formation. P51S, P51B, P51G, P51M and P51P refer to the institutional sectors S11, S12, S13, S14 and S15.
