Motivation: Our pertinent national source, the Central Statistical Bureau of Kuwait, reports quarterly gross domestic product at current and constant prices, and gross domestic product for oil and non-oil sectors at constant prices, but only in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms.
Response: For analytical consistency, we have created counterparts for the above, at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR).
Properties: Expect our SA series to be revised with each update to the NSA series. Supplemental series of this kind are identified by a secondary source citation of "Moody's Analytics Adjusted" or "Moody's Analytics Calculated".
- Measurements: Millions of Kuwaiti dinar at current prices (Mil. KWD) or constant year-2010 prices (Mil. 2010 KWD)
- Adjustment: Seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR)
- Geo coverage: Country
- Native frequency: Quarterly
- Start date: 2010Q1
The series reside in the historical catalog (Kuwait » National Accounts » by Value Added) and are:
- NALSGDPAQ.IKWT = National accounts: Production approach - GDP at market's value, (Mil. KWD, SAAR)
- NACSGDPAQ.IKWT = GDP at market's value, (Mil. 2010 KWD, SAAR)
- NACSGDPOILAQ.IKWT = GDP - Oil and oil products sector, (Mil. 2010 KWD, SAAR)
- NACSGDPNOLAQ.IKWT = GDP - Non-oil sectors, (Mil. 2010 KWD, SAAR)
Method
- Seasonally adjust three series using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-13 ARIMA program.
- Compute "GDP for non-oil sectors" as an identity, i.e., (GDP less "GDP for oil and oil products sector").
