Gross domestic product by industry, December 2018 [...] Note to readers Effective with this release, monthly estimates of GDP by industry include estimates of the licensed and unlicensed economic activities related to cannabis production, distribution and consumption for non-medical and medical use. This is reflected in the introduction of new industries in the agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting and retail sectors covering licensed and unlicensed activities back to the beginning of the current series in 1997.
In response, we have:
- Added 28 new series related to cannabis, starting as early as January 1997.
- Synchronized our extract to the latest revisions.
- Refurbished metadata on existing series.

Please be aware that
Although use of cannabis for non-medical purposes in Canada was legalized only in 2017, Statistics Canada has estimated its prior impact and revised the full history of pertinent series.
Gross domestic product for all industries (NAHBPTTAM.ICAN) experienced an upward level shift of 0.1% to 0.3%.
Individual industries were shifted by 15% to 35%, in particular: Agriculture; forestry; fishing and hunting [11], Crop and animal production [11A], Crop production [111], and Sales at miscellaneous store retailers [453]. (Cannabis was inserted into NAICS at two points: for production at branch 111C, and for sales at 453B.)
