For 209 existing employment by industry series, at the national and provincial geo levels, we have extended with as-reported history back to 1976. Previously, these series started at 2001.
The series reside in the historical catalog (Canada » Labor Markets » Labor Force Survey (LFS) » Estimates » Employment by industry » Annual) and include, for example:
- LWQEM41UA.ICAN = Employment - Wholesale trade [41], (Ths. #)
- LWQEM52UA.ICAN_MB = Employment - Finance and insurance [52], (Ths. #) - for Manitoba
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Please be aware that
We have notated the industry composition in the description metadata of each series, in square brackets. We have used the source's symbology verbatim, even if it's anomalous. For example, "mining, quarrying, oil and gas extraction" is marked as [21, 2100], although 2100 is conterminous with 21.
