Motivation: The national source, Croatian Bureau of Statistics (CBS), recently revised their quarterly national accounts data over the interval 2000 to 2017. Previously, we created our seasonal factors using the X-12-ARIMA seasonal adjustment program. We are incrementally migrating our datasets to the X-13-ARIMA program, which is newer and usually produces superior results.
Response: We have recalculated our factors using the X-13-ARIMA program, and recomputed our SA series to better align with the source's revisions. As a result, all seasonally adjusted series have been revised.
Properties: Properties are unchanged. Series start at 2000Q1. Expect our SA series to be revised with each update.
The series reside in the historical catalog (Croatia » National Accounts » By expenditure | By value add » Quarterly) and include, for example:
- NACEEXAQ.IHRV = National accounts: Expenditure approach - Exports - Total, (Mil. 2010 HRK, SAAR)
- NACSGVAMFAQ.IHRV = Production approach - Gross value added - Manufacturing [C], (Mil. 2010 HRK, SAAR)
- NALSGVATAQ.IHRV = Gross value added - Total, (Mil. HRK, SAAR)
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Method:
- Adjust reported GDP by expenditure components and GVA by NACE sections individually, using the U.S. Census Bureau's X-13 ARIMA program.
- Compute total GVA (all activities) as an identity, i.e., the sum over NACE sections.
- Compute final consumption expenditure, gross capital formation, and changes in inventories as identities.
