New Estimates: Canada subnational - Population by age for CMAs

Summary
November 2019 -- Moody's Analytics now estimates population by ten-year age brackets for metro areas in Canada (363 new quarterly series from 1996).

Motivation: Our pertinent national source, Statistics Canada, reports subnational population under the following programs with different combinations of properties:

  • Annual, estimate, total population, as early as 1976
  • Annual, estimate, by five-year age bracket, from 1996

Response: For international consistency, Moody's Analytics estimates quarterly population by broad (0 to 14, 15 to 64, 25 to 54, 65 and older, 75 and older) and ten-year (15 to 24, 25 to 34, 35 to 44, 45 to 54, 55 to 64, 65 to 74) age-brackets, for the 33 census metropolitan areas of Canada.
