The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis wrote (BEA 19-37):
Revisions to the personal income and outlays estimates reflect the results of the 2019 annual update of the NIPAs. Revisions to annual estimates of personal income and outlays for 2014 through 2018 are shown in table 12. Revised and previously published monthly estimates of personal income, DPI, PCE, personal saving as a percentage of DPI, real DPI, and real PCE are shown in table 13. Revised and previously published annual and quarterly estimates are shown in table 14.
We implemented the revisions in Data Buffet via these steps:
- Archived all pre-benchmark data under new names, for example, YPM_2018.IUSA.
- If when retrieving archived series you receive the message "Series found: database closed" you will need to activate databanks NIPA_2018.db and IUSA_BEA_PIO_2018.db, under menu:Settings » Default Databanks (see related article).
- Revised existing series, e.g., YPM.IUSA:
- All quarterly series from 2014Q1
- All annual series from 2014
The series reside in the historical catalog (United States » Income » Personal Income » Monthly personal income & outlays) and the associated (Pre-2018 revision) node. They include, for example:
- YPM.IUSA = Total personal income, (Mil. USD, SAAR)
- YPC$M.IUSA = Personal consumption expenditures, (Mil. Ch. 2012 USD, SAAR)
- YPTRPM_2018.IUSA = [DISCONTINUED] Personal current transfer payments (pre-revision), (Mil. USD, SAAR)
Note that the scale changed from billions to millions during the 2018 comprehensive update.
