The IMF has changed their dissemination method for the IFS, altered the corpus of series and their keys, and truncated select series. In response, we have synchronized our Data Buffet extract with these steps:
- Deleted series.
- Added series, with standardized mnemonics.
- Renamed surviving series to the same standard.
- Aliased prior mnemonics to preserve backwards compatibility with legacy retrievals.
- Populated series to match the length of history reported by IMF.
By using aliases, we supply several ways to retrieve each series, or to match against the IMF's own repository. Note that IMF's keys are only semi-unique; they act like our concept codes, to identify a group of series, not a particular series for a single geo.

- Annual: 54,708 to 79,321

- Frequency: Annual, quarterly or monthly
- Start date: 1960, 1960Q1 or January 1960
- Figures:
- Percent per annum (% p.a.)
- Country-specific local currencies, U.S. dollars (USD), or euros (EUR)

- Percent change from previous period (% M/M, % Q/Q, or % Y/Y)
- Percent change from corresponding period of previous year (% Y/Y)
- Adjustment: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA) or seasonally adjusted (SA)
- Geo coverage: 230 countries
- Not all concept-geo combinations exist. At present, there are one to 213 geos per concept, and one to 1,189 concepts per geo.
The series reside in the historical catalog (Cross Country » International Monetary Fund (IMF) » International Financial Statistics (IFS)) and include, for example:
