Das Bundesamt für Statistik (BFS) hat Anfang Oktober 2013 beschlossen, die Publikation der Ergebnisse der vierteljährlichen Wohnbaustatistik vorübergehend einzustellen, um Datenkontrollen durchführen zu können.

Grund für diese Massnahme ist die fehlende Stabilität der Quelldaten, die bedeutende Revisionen des vorhergehenden Quartals erforderlich macht. Mit der Revision vom Juli 2013 der vierteljährlichen Wohnbaustatistik und dem Übergang von Fragebogen zur ausschliesslichen Verwendung von Administrativdaten haben die verspäteten Meldungen erheblich zugenommen. Neubauten und/oder Abschlüsse von Bauprojekten werden häufig verspätet gemeldet, weshalb es derzeit nicht möglich ist, innert der geforderten Frist von rund drei Monaten nach dem Stichtag Daten in ausreichender Qualität zu produzieren.
