Data Revision: U.S. - CPI - SA [2019]
Monday, 11 Feb 2019 16:54 ET
By Megan McGee
February 2019 -- For the U.S. consumer price index, concurrent with dissemination of results for December 2018, the seasonal adjustment factors have undergone their routine annual update (475 monthly series revised, 2014 to 2018).

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics explained (citation):

Each year with the release of the January CPI, seasonal adjustment factors are recalculated to reflect price movements from the just-completed calendar year. This routine annual recalculation may result in revisions to seasonally adjusted indexes for the previous 5 years. BLS made available recalculated seasonally adjusted indexes, as well as recalculated seasonal adjustment factors, for the period January 2014 through December 2018, on Monday, February 11, 2019. The revised indexes and seasonal factors are available on this page.

The series reside in the historical catalog (United States » Price » Consumer price index » Monthly).
